Contested Lands and Climate Change - A Case Study of Mapuche Communities’ Adaptation to Change
Jose is a forest engineer from the University of Chile. He has collaborated with Indigenous communities in Chile and Canada regarding climate change and Indigenous knowledge. He is working with Mapuche communities who have been subject to land seizures and environmental decline by forest companies and the Nations State of Chile. Mapuche culture, knowledge and worldview have been jeopardized by the named stakeholders, and therefore concerted action and new knowledge is needed in order to find peaceful solutions regarding land access.
